THE High Court has adjourned to later this month a Co Offaly businessman’s application to avoid returning to prison forbeing in contempt of court for failing to secure the return of leased machinery worth €2 million.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy yesterday agreed to put back an application by Donal Rigney, who was freed temporarily last week, concerning return of the machinery to finance company Lombard Ireland Ltd.

Lombard brought the proceedings arising out of Rigney’s failure to return 17 pieces of machinery, including dumper trucks, cranes and excavators, estimated to have been worth between €1.9m and €2m.
