AIB to offload €1.6bn stake in M&T

AIB last night announced that it was disposing of its 22% or €1.6 billion shareholding in US bank M&T.

The announcement was made after the stockmarket closed in the US.

There were rumours that the announcement would happen earlier in the day however, following the resignation from the AIB board of the M&T chief executive Robert Wilmers
