Among the high profile names was Dublin restaurant Fallon & Byrne, which was obliged to pay out €733,0000 tax, interest and penalty charges.

In a related case, one of the restaurant’s directors, Paul Byrne of Whitechurch Hill, Ballyboden, Dublin 16, and his father, Peter Byrne, of Walshestown Newbridge, Co Kildare, paid out €644,000 for under declaring their VAT, PAYE and PRSI liabilities.
