Market down on very low volumes
The British market was closed yesterday for the summer bank holiday which added to the slack trading. World stocks put in modest gains, lifted by last week‘s assurance from the US Federal Reserve that it will do what is needed to stimulate economic recovery.
In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland slipped 0.8c to 74c. Allied Irish Banks added 1c to 77c. Irish Life & Permanent fell 6.3c to €1.39, while insurance company FBD Holdings was unchanged at €6.98.
