ECONOMIC confidence, across the EU increased marginally in August but continued to differ widely between member states.

Latest figures from the EU statistics and data unit, Eurostat, show its Economic Sentiment Indicator rose from 102.1 to 102.7 points for the EU as a whole and from 101.1 to 101.8 for the eurozone between July and August.

The figures also illustrate the gulf in confidence that exists between countries.
