Developer’s hotel gets go-ahead

A LIMERICK-BASED property developer has won planning consent for a landmark €91.5m, mixed- use hotel to be built next to Birmingham’s Bond Street – the Mailbox.

Developer’s hotel gets go-ahead

Plans for the 25-storey tower – submitted by Irish developer Manor Park Developments working with D5 Architects – include a 259-bedroom hotel and 144-bedroom apart-hotel. The project is the company’s first major project in England, previously working on residential and commercial developments in Ireland.

Managing director of associated company New Manor Developments, Mike Coffey, said: “This is great news. Not only is it a large scale construction project but it’s also Manor Park Developments’ first commercial scheme in England. We’ve a long-term lease already signed with Europe’s leading serviced-apartment operator – StayCity – which proves the scheme’s potential from the outset. We’re due to announce a hotel operator soon.”
