THE ISEQ index fell for the fourth consecutive day by 39.72 points to 2,824.64.

Investors were nervous after the intervention of the ECB in the bond market to buy Irish gilts.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland dropped 4c to 79c. Allied Irish Banks lost 1c to 84c. Irish Life & Permanent was 6c weaker at €1.69, while insurance group FBD Holdings ended the session 3c less at €6.72.
