LADBROKES saw a near 10% year-on-year fall in both gross win levels and the amount punters spent over the counter in its Irish operations during the first half of this year, adding that conditions here remain “challenging”.

Both gross wins, or the amount a bookie makes from punters’ losing bets, and stake amounts, or how much punters spend, are prime indicators of how much a betting company is making and how big it is.

British company Ladbrokes is second only to Paddy Power in terms of market share in Ireland.
