MBNA employees fearful of layoffs

Leitrim: Staff at credit card company MBNA have expressed fears about their jobs after management yesterday launched a forum to discuss restructuring measures.

The company, employing 1,000 people in Leitrim, said layoffs would be a last resort. The proposed changes will not affect any other aspect of parent company Bank of America’s business here, where it employs 1,700.
