Goodman plant destroyed by fire

Suffolk: A meat plant in the Larry Goodman group of companies was destroyed by fire in Britain over the weekend.

Eighty fire-fighters fought the blaze at Wessex Foods, part of the Irish Food Processors Group.

Some 150 people are employed at the Suffolk plant, one of the largest producers of burgers, steaks and mince in Britain. A spokesman for Wessex Foods said the factory had been completely destroyed.

“However, other plants within the group in Britain and the Republic of Ireland are able to meet customer requirements immediately,” he said. Police said the fire was not thought to be suspicious.
