Bond auctions boost shares

SHARES in Dublin recorded a modest gain yesterday as delicate investor sentiment continued to recover following a successful week for Eurozone bond auctions. The ISEQ index added 15.55 points to 3,118.79.

Bank stocks traded higher on the day as AIB put in a strong performance, jumping 10.4c to €1.11, having finished the previous week at 89.8c. Bank of Ireland and Irish Life and Permanent were also in positive territory, with the former moving on 1.9c to 84.7c and the latter rising 1c to €1.85.

Construction stocks had a good day with CRH increasing 7c to €19.55, while Grafton Group rose 8c to €2.93. Kingspan remained steady at €6.05.
