THE Irish Farmers Association yesterday called on the European Commission to reinstate a full ban on Brazilian beef imports.

IFA president John Bryan said the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) had identified a third case in the last week of Brazilian beef failing to meet acceptable food safety standards.

He said EU Health and Consumer Policy Commissioner John Dalli must move immediately to ban Brazilian beef and withdraw similar products on supermarket shelves as European consumers must be equally protected.
