Kelleher leads major trade mission to boost €200m exports to Australia
The week-long trade mission follows the minister’s visit to Australia earlier this year.
“The mission itinerary encompasses all of the key sectors, such as telecommunications, medical, financial services and education. Meetings have been arranged with several of Australia’s leading companies, public bodies and institutions and industry groups,” according to Mr Kelleher
Australia is the largest market in the Asia Pacific region and the ninth largest export market in the world for Irish exporting companies. More than 70 Irish companies have a physical presence in the market.
Speaking ahead of the trade mission Mr Kelleher said: “Ireland’s economic growth and employment is inextricably linked to growing exports.
“Australia is the most important market for Irish companies in the Asia Pacific region and holds significant potential for Irish companies. The participants on this mission come from a range of dynamic, innovative companies with world-class products and services that closely match Australian demand.
“The main objective of this mission is to highlight the range and quality of Irish products and services to potential Australian business partners,” he said.
The mission is an important part of Enterprise Ireland’s strategy to drive export growth that will support employment and business growth back home.
Enterprise Ireland director Asia-Pacific Alan Dixon said: “Ireland’s enterprise sector is world-class in its capacity and performance and Irish companies continue to win sales in overseas markets.
“The size of this week’s trade mission, the diversity of sectors represented and the calibre of the participating companies, all testify to the continued importance of the Australian market for Irish enterprise.
“We are confident that the efforts of these firms participating in this mission will further boost the already vibrant and dynamic trade partnership between Ireland and Australia”, Mr Dixon said.
