Emission tax probe widens

Berlin: Germany’s probe into possible tax evasion linked to trading of emissions allowances has led to law enforcement action in at least nine other European countries, including an arrest in Britain.

Frankfurt prosecutors asked colleagues in European nations, including Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway for legal assistance, prosecutor spokesman Guenter Wittig said.

Raids were conducted in several countries and a suspect was arrested in Britain, he said.
