Kish Bank mooted for gas storage

Dublin: Oil and gas company Providence Resources Plc has said its Kish Bank Basin offshore Ireland might be suitable for gas storage and carbon sequestration.

Studies had confirmed the site could have a carbon storage capacity of up to 270 million tonnes, it said in a statement, adding that its close proximity to Dublin made it potentially competitive for gas storage.

Yesterday’s statement followed an exploration update on Thursday when it said seismic data for the Kish Bank Basin, known as the Dalkey Island exploration prospect, suggested it could contain 870 million barrels of oil.
