EasyJet fined for labour law breach

Paris: EasyJet Plc, Europe’s second-biggest discount airline, violated labour laws by employing workers at a Paris airport under British labour contracts, a French court ruled.

EasyJet was fined €150,000 and ordered to pay €1.4 million to the labour office in unpaid taxes under the decision by the criminal court in Creteil, near Paris.

“The ruling seems inappropriate to me,” said Frederique Baulieu, a lawyer for EasyJet. “We will study the decision to consider whether to appeal.”
