Imports and exports rise 6.4% at Dublin Port

DUBLIN Port Company has reported a 6.4% year-on-year increase in total throughput for February, marking the third consecutive month of like-for-like trade improvement at the country’s biggest port.

February saw a total of 2.15 million tonnes of cargo going through the capital’s port, compared with just over 2m for February 2009. Exports amounted to 859,000 tonnes, up 10.7% year-on-year, while imports totalled 1.29m tonnes, up by nearly 8%.

Chief executive Enda Connellan said: “It is encouraging to see continued increases in throughput at Dublin Port.
