THE Irish market held steady yesterday, but failed to make any inroads into the heavy losses seen last Friday.

Many other European bourses did however, see a small rally. The ISEQ index gained 12.32 points to close at 2,902.43.

Banks were mixed with heavyweights AIB and Bank of Ireland showing minor pluses. The former added on 3c to €1.12 with the latter adding 3c to €1.22. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the trend losing 7.3c to finish the session at €3.02.
