He believes that the American-style business angel movement could play a key role in bringing this talent to the fore at a difficult time for the Irish economy.

Mr O’Ceidigh was speaking in advance of a business angel seminar in Galway on Monday next, February 1, where he will be the keynote speaker.

The seminar is aimed at private investors looking for equity opportunities in fledgling companies in the Border, Midlands and West area.

“I have been exposed to the business angel model in America in particular, and now in Ireland too. I think it is a wonderful system where people with money and experience can bring something positive to early-stage companies,” said Mr O’Ceidigh.
