Kentz signs services deal with ExxonMobil

CONSTRUCTION and engineering group Kentz has signed a potentially lucrative long-term international service deal with global oil and gas giant ExxonMobil.

The company is based in Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

The five-year global framework engineering services agreement will see Kentz exclusively undertake engineering, design, construction and technical support activities on various ExxonMobil projects around the world. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

“We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with ExxonMobil and would look forward to potentially working with them on a broad range of projects in numerous different geographies,” said Kentz chief executive Hugh O’Donnell.

Although this deal technically comes under Kentz’s technical support services global business unit, it ranks as the Kentz group’s third major announcement already this year.

Since the turn of the year, the business has announced the signing of a €48m contract to build infrastructure and processing plants for a new coal project in Mozambique and has said that as well as a good set of 2009 results, the likely increasing demand for oil could lead to a strong performance in 2010. Kentz’ main client base lies in the oil and gas exploration market.
