ICG mulls future of Bilbao ferry

IRISH Continental Group (ICG) is looking at options concerning the operation of one of its largest passenger ferries after the vessel’s current operator said it wouldn’t be renewing its lease.

The MV Pride of Bilbao ferry is owned by ICG but is currently chartered to P&O Ferries for use on its Portsmouth to Bilbao route. P&O has used the ferry since 1993, but has announced that it is to cease the route at the end of next September.

However, the charter agreement with ICG will still run until the middle of October this year, at which time it will return to ICG operation.
