Suckler welfare scheme to extend into 2010 at €40 per animal

THE suckler welfare scheme will continue in 2010 at the rate of €40 per animal, Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Minister Brendan Smith has confirmed.

He also announced that payment will issue early in the new year in respect of the 2009 scheme.

Mr Smith reminded all farmers in the scheme of the need to continue to use the animal events system to register calf births from January 1 onwards.
