RURAL Ireland will be devastated unless the farming and food sector is supported through its worst income crisis in a generation.

The Irish Farmers Association issued the warning to the Government at the launch of its pre-budget submission in Dublin yesterday.

IFA president Padraig Walshe said investing in primary production is the key to maintaining and increasing jobs in the sector, increasing exports and assisting economic recovery.
