CLONMEL specialist food producer Rib World is launching a new product in four European countries this month.

Rib World unveils new pork product

The fully-cooked and ready-to-serve pork fillet is the first product of its type to be launched in Britain and Ireland.

It will also launch in Sweden and Denmark and will help boost turnover at the group, which was founded in 2005. Turnover is already at €10 million and the new product is expected to generate further growth despite the tough market conditions.

It will complement its successful Barbecue Pork Ribs range, the group said in a statement.

The group is one of the largest specialist marinated and cooked pork-rib producers in Europe and has grown rapidly, with current growth between 25 and 30% annually.

The group continues to build market presence and sells in Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Iceland as well as the domestic market.

The new product is the first to come on stream from the group’s new R&D facility at Clonmel which involved an initial investment of €500,000 earlier this year.

The product can be heated in just five to six minutes in a microwave or 15 minutes in a conventional oven.

Managing directory Bo Nielsen is optimistic about the future despite the global economic downturn.

“We are achieving sustained growth and reaching our targets in our new European markets and at home here in Ireland, where we have doubled sales each year,” he said.
