Bord Gáis investment in home energy to create jobs
Chief executive John Mullins plans to announce details of the investment at the Cork Chamber annual conference, which is taking place this afternoon.
A source within the company confirmed that the announcement about Bord Gáis Energy that will create jobs within and outside of the company.
As well as Mr Mullins, delegates at the conference will also hear from Patrick Coveney, chief executive of Greencore, and Rory Quinlan, head of HSBC Private Bank in Ireland.
Roger Whatmore, chief executive of the Tyndall Institute, will also address the conference, entitled, Re-Booting Our Economy — Back to the Future.
Cork Chamber reduced the event’s cost by 40% this year, due it said to the economic climate. It charged €75 for members to attend the half-day event and €125 for non-members.
Cork Chamber chief executive, Conor Healy said: “In recent years Cork has developed to the point where significant potential was identified and advancement was achieved.
“However, recent changes in the national and international economic environment have made realising these opportunities more challenging.
“In such times, seeing what we have successfully achieved and looking to the future becomes ever more important.”
