THE ISEQ index recovered somewhat after a sluggish start ahead of a busy week of company and economic reports from the US.

At the closing bell the Irish exchange had gained 27.41 points to 3,293.92.

In the financial sector, the main banking shares had a mixed day, with AIB nudging upwards by 2.5c to €2.70 while Bank of Ireland dipped by 5c to €2.63. Irish Life & Permanent was the leading riser climbing 12c to €5.75.
