NTR eyes European expansion

IRISH renewable energy and waste management group, NTR is hopeful of entering the southern European solar energy market within the next two years, on the back of developing its supply chain in that area in the North American market.

Management has said that “strong interest” has already been indicated from a number of potential joint-venture partners in the Mediterranean region, particularly Portugal and Spain.

The group – whose subsidiary companies include waste management firm Greenstar, solar energy specialist Sterling Energy Systems and the North American-based bio-ethanol company Green Plains Renewable Energy – yesterday reported an operating loss for the 12 months to the end of March of €76.4 million.
