THERE is still great scope for farmers to integrate some forestry with their other farming activities, according to Minister of State Tony Killeen.

“Forestry will make a significant contribution to a farmer’s income and deliver benefits that will accrue in the long term both to themselves and the wider community,” he said.

Mr Killeen was speaking at the launch the 22nd RDS-Forest Service Awards for 2009 at the Kilcock, Co Kildare farm of Joe Barry, winner of the Bio-diverse Forests- Woodlands award in last year’s competition.
