Ely Property gets approval to build 400-bed student village in London

A LEADING provider of student accommodation in Ireland and Britain is set to build a 400-bed student village in London.

Ely Property, part of the Newcourt Group has just received planning permission for the village on Isledon Road, Finsbury Park in Islington, London.

The development will comprise 65 self-contained units and 10 studio apartments. Chief executive Philip Marley said despite a challenging environment the firm was continuing to work on a range of projects.

He said the firm was delivering on a range of projects and to expand its student accommodation sites across Ireland and Britain.

“We are particularly pleased to have received direct support from Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn and from the local community surrounding our Isledon Road development,” he said.

“Local support for our developments is key and our objective is to provide best-in-class student accommodation that also respects and integrates with the community in which it is located.”

The student village is located 250 metres from Finsbury Park Tube station which serves the Victoria and Piccadilly lines.

It is situated 1 mile from London Metropolitan University North Campus with more than 17,000 students and 15 minutes from the main university hub of London – Russell Square.
