Cost of living shows biggest plunge for 75 years

PRICES have fallen in Ireland by more than any other European country as the cost of living plunges by the most in 75 years.

In the year to April 2009 prices in Ireland are down by 0.7%, according to figures, based on a European measure and released yesterday.

Based on an Irish measure, which includes mortgage interest relief, the rate of inflation has fallen by 4.7% in the year to the end of May.
