THE European Commission has moved to ease the dairy industry crisis which has led to an income nightmare for milk producers.

Export refunds for butter, skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder were increased yesterday at a meeting in Brussels of the EU management committee for the common organisation of agricultural markets.

It was also decided to accept into intervention all quantities of butter and skimmed milk powder offered, while maintaining the intervention purchase prices.
