FOOD exporters are tapping into an Anglo-Irish grocery consumer market in Britain estimated to be worth £451m per year, and growing 10.7%, year on year.

Last week, 33 Irish chilled products were launched in 14 Asda stores across Britain – including Cashel Blue cheese, Clonakilty black pudding, Connacht Gold, and Nolan’s smoked salmon.

Bord Bia and Irish food distributor Eddie O’Kane said the Irish in Britain are heavier than average shoppers. Over 50% of them are in London or Scotland.
