Banks record another strong showing as AIB and BoI shares rise

THE Irish Stock exchange was closed yesterday like most European bourses as the system used by the ISE is controlled from Frankfurt.

Banks record another strong showing as AIB and BoI shares rise

The Irish Stock Exchange operates the Xetra system in Ireland, in conjunction with Deutsche Borse, which operates the Frankfurt exchange.

Irish stocks were traded through the London market throughout the day.

In the financial sector, the main banks had another positive day. AIB gained 2c to 93c, Bank of Ireland increased 6c to 84c, while Irish Life and Permanent jumped 12c to €2.02.

In the construction sector, CRH fell 42c to €19.30, Grafton Group added 2c to €2.72, while Kingspan Group dipped 4c to €3.87.

In other news, Ryanair was unchanged at €3.28, while C&C progressed a further 13c to €1.87.
