AS THE recession deepens the number of firms on staged tax payments to the Revenue has risen by almost 50% over last year.

The figures were disclosed yesterday by Revenue Commissioners chairperson Josephine Feehily.

Speaking at the launch of last year’s annual report the chairman said the number of companies on staggered tax payments was up 45% on last year’s figure.
