THE first in a series of protests by furious dairy farmers over falling milk prices was held in Dungarvan, Waterford, last night.

It was timed to coincide with advisory meetings by Glanbia, which last week cut the milk price it pays suppliers by 3.7c/l to 20c/l.

Producers, who say this is the same price it was in 1983, will also protest in Kilkenny this morning and at Portlaoise and Wexford tomorrow.
