Portlaoise dairy farmer Michael Gowing elected as Macra president

MACRA na Feirme’s strength is its members, according to its newly elected president, Michael Gowing, a 30-year-old dairy and beef farmer from Portlaoise.

His election means that Portlaoise is now the only club in Macra’s 65-year history to have provided it with two national presidents.

Mr Gowing, who was Teagasc Student of the Year in 1999 and is a former FBD Young Farmer of the Year, is the 32nd holder of the office.
