British broker to open Cork office
It will have a team of three — Patrick Sexton, 45, from Watergrasshill, and Padraig O’Riordan, 40, both of whom have spent the majority of their careers working in Cork and throughout Munster — and Kevin Kelly, 30.
Mr O’Riordan has over 10 years’ experience as a private client stockbroker and manager of a stockbroking team.
He is a well-known speaker at investment seminars and established a popular introductory course provided at schools and colleges throughout Munster.
He has also developed a specialist role in establishing and supporting investment clubs.
Mr Sexton is a chartered accountant who worked as an internal auditor with Westpac Banking Corporation in 1989. He began his stockbroking career in Cork in 1993.
Originally from Co Limerick, Mr Kelly began his stockbroking career in 2007.
He is particularly interested in the technical analysis of stock market trends, and the relationship between the stock and currency markets.
They will work in their firm’s first branch to open outside of Britain where it has more than 30 offices.
“We aim to replicate in Ireland the success that we have had in the UK, and to further strengthen our position as a leading stockbroker with this new international focus,” said Keith Loudon, a senior Partner at Redmayne-Bentley.
The firm is based in Leeds in England. It was established in 1875 and has more than 30 branches from the Highlands of Scotland down to Exeter and Torquay in the south west.
It was recently awarded the silver award for the Best Advisory Broker 2008, by readers of Investors Chronicle magazine.
