DRUMMONDS, one of the country’s oldest seed companies, yesterday announced the closure of its six branches with the loss of 44 jobs.

Part of the Grencore Group, the company’s core activity is the purchase and marketing of seed, cereal grains and agricultural inputs.

It said the closure of the branches at Clonee, Navan, Kells, Drogheda, Ardee and Knockbridge in north Leinster follows a comprehensive review of the long-term viability of the business.
