A MAJOR marketing drive is under way to re-establish Irish meat brands in markets worldwide.

Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith, spearheading the initiative, travelled to France yesterday to reassure customers about the safety and quality of Irish product.

More than 150 guests, including representatives from leading French retailers such as Intermarche, Monoprix and Metro, attended a Bord Bia trade reception in the Irish Embassy in Paris.
