THE protracted takeover battle for Irish Continental Group may be close to an end.

Rivals consider joint  bid for ICG

It emerged last night that One51 has entered talks with ICG chief executive Eamonn Rothwell about a joint bid for the company.

Rothwell and other senior executives triggered a battle for control when they offered €18.50 per share to buy the group in early March 2007.
