White Young Green profit up

BRITISH civil engineering consultancy firm White Young Green (WYG), which employs about 700 people in its Irish operations, has reported a strong set of full-year results for the 12 months to the end of June, including a 31% rise in pre-tax profits to £21 million (€26.5m).

Operating profits of £26.4m constituted a 35% year-on-year rise, while adjusted earnings per share rose by 29% to 31.6p and group revenue was up by 28% on the previous year at £282.1m.

In its Irish operations, gross revenue increased by 57% to €74.8m, net revenue increased by 59% to €67.5m and operating profit increased by 39% to €9.4m.

WYG has built up a significant business in Ireland with offices in Dublin, Athlone, Cork, Belfast, Limerick, Sligo, Derry, Kilkenny and Waterford. Its recent work here includes working with Cork County Council on the N20 motorway improvement scheme, safety consultancy for Irish Rail surrounding the site of the Lansdowne Road stadium and environmental consultancy for Gorey Regional Water Supply. It was also commissioned to carry out an environmental report on the former Irish steel site in Cobh.
