THE decline of new entrants to farming is about to change, Macra na Feirme president Catherine Buckley has predicted.

She said the optimism is based on the increased demand for places in agricultural colleges. Teagasc enrolment figures for further education courses in agriculture are up 42% to date this year on the back of a 47% increase last year.
