Alcon creates 186 jobs

The positive news was delivered in Cork yesterday when Alcon said 186 additional jobs will be created at its Model Farm Road, involving an additional investment of €21.14m. The announcement was made by Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin when he officially opened the completed first phase of the project yesterday.

Meanwhile the €350m investment announced by HMH, originally called Riverdeep, is over 12 times bigger than the previous R&D investment record set by an Irish company which involved a spend of €30m on its research centre by food group, Glanbia, at its Kilkenny headquarters.
