Financials react well to US news

A DROP in oil prices and a better than expected results from US bank Wells Fargo on Wednesday evening led to a rise on worldwide stock exchanges. The ISEQ index jumped a healthy 227.47 points to finish at 4673.79.

The Irish financials reacted extremely positively with AIB and BoI adding 92c and 50c respectively to €8.20 and €5.39. Anglo-Irish also moved on 38c to €4.75, while Irish Life and Permanent was 37.5c better off at €4.675.

CRH was up a full €1.35 to €16. Grafton Group and Kingspan tacked on 26c and 39.4c to €3 and €5.994.
