A FORMER minister for agriculture in New Zealand has said he often looked with envy at the way in which Irish milk processors have evolved internationally.

John Luxton, chairman of DairyNZ, a farmer-funded research, development and extension body, paid the tribute at the Teagasc Foresight 2030 conference in Dublin Castle.

He said Fonterra, the New Zealand processor, is trying to make changes along the lines that Kerry made 20 to 30 years ago.
