Smith meets northern counterpart

THE new Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith visited Balmoral Show in Belfast yesterday and met with his Northern Ireland counterpart Michelle Gildernew.

Mr Smith said he took the opportunity to restate the Government’s commitment to seeking a balanced outcome to the ongoing world trade talks, one which does not undermine Irish and European agriculture and delivers real benefits to the industrial and services sectors.

Mr Smith said the Government had voiced its concerns to the EU Commission at all levels and at every opportunity.
