Series encourages ecofriendly living

LIMERICK-BASED company ResourceKraft has teamed up with RTÉ in providing technical advice and solutions for the broadcaster’s latest ecofriendly television production, My Family Aren’t Wasters.

Series encourages ecofriendly living

The six-part series, to start screening shortly, follows two households aiming to reduce their carbon footprint through behavioural change.

Series producer Simon McKeown said: “Under the direction of Dr Kirk Shanks and Aodhan MacPhaidin, ResourceKraft provided us with the most comprehensive and detailed set of domestic energy sensors in the world.

“With their help, the two families in the series were able to more than halve the energy bills they had and have shown the rest of the country how to stop wasting energy.”

Frank Casey of ResourceKraft said the company was being used to monitor the contestants’ residential environment and energy consumption.

The migration to a domestic situation “is not a big issue because the same system is being supplied to small and medium businesses, delivering them substantial savings of over 10% in their first year through waste reduction, which is all net profit to the owners,” Mr Casey added.

The company is a leading supplier of sophisticated energy management systems and recently launched ResourceKraft Advisor, a web-based energy management information system, designed in a user-friendly way that makes saving money on energy bills achievable.
