Interest in ploughing at record high

A RECORD number of 200 enquiries for exhibition space at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Cuffesgrange, Co Kilkenny (September 23-25) was reported yesterday.

The National Ploughing Association said the enquiries are in addition to the 800 businesses who participated in last year’s event, which attracted more than 160,000 people to Annaharvey, Co Offaly. A trade exhibition pack will be sent to 1,400 businesses nationally and internationally shortly.

NPA managing director Anna May McHugh said the economic downturn was a concern at the beginning of the year, but companies still feel the necessity to showcase their products and services.
