THE first major world conference on Irish beef cattle breeds is set for Kilkenny on October 12th, writes Ray Ryan.

Beef Expo Ireland will take place at Kilkenny Mart with a conference in Lyrath Estate Hotel. Funded by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Department and co-ordinated by Bord Bia, there will also be a management committee comprising members of the Pedigree Cattle Breeders Council of Ireland, ICBF and the Department.

Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan said Beef Expo will promote the best of Irish pedigree breeding, increasing export markets for semen, embryos and live cattle.
