Older farmers urged to seek help

THE number of accidents affecting older people in farming was described as worrying by IFA Farm Family and Social Affairs Committee chairwoman Mary Sherry.

She urged older farmers to recognise their limitations and seek help where necessary, particularly in relation to the handling of animals.

Ms Sherry, speaking at the start of Farm Safety Month, called on all farmers to ensure that risks to health and safety in relation to the work being done have been identified and appropriate corrective action taken.
